From the recording Kartoon World

Al Steele hit upon the idea for a simple repetitive title.
Both James and Al wrote separate songs, and in the end used Al's verse and James' classic Korgis sounding Middle 8.
Here it is in it's first very basic form.

Lyrics

In these strangest times, stuck here in Babylon
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to love someone
We can't lead the blind, with our dark shades on
Sometimes the best thing we can do is to love someone
When there are no songs
For the one that's finally gone
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to love someone

When the doctors best isn't good enough
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to love someone
When all hopes gone west, we don't need strong or tough
Sometimes the best thing we can do is to love someone
It's not hard to tell
When someone's been to hell
That's when the best thing you can do is to love someone

When I come home
Come home tonight
Will you seem like a stranger
Will you be angry again
This is where it started
Is this where it ends?
Tomorrow I'll be leaving
I know you will
Driving into the sunrise
Driving far from me
Tomorrow we'll both wake up
like this never happened

Sometimes life in here, is just way too sad
And the best thing you can do is to love someone
Old folks live with fear, in a world gone mad
That's when the best thing we can do is to love someone
When words don't bring
Comfort in anything
Sometimes the best thing you can do
Maybe the only thing to do
Sometimes the best thing you can do is to love someone
