DANIELLE NICHOLLS

As well as being the newest member of The Korgis, Danielle Nicholls is an extraordinary artist in her own right.
It was Al Steele who suggested her for the slot as he had been involved with her music from the very beginning.
He produced her final piece for The Welsh College of Music and Drama - an ethereal version of Sondheim's 'Being Alive'.
Soon after she bought a guitar and it wasn't long before she began to write. From the beginning the songs were individual and often quite complex.
These were the songs that would become the album 'Breathe', produced by Al at Shabbey Road Studios, where we record all The Korgis new material.
She began to gig with her own band - the lineup changing many times, but always embracing an acoustic vibe. By the time the music for a second album was ready, the band had expanded to include percussion and bass guitar and was now known as the Danielle Nicholls Band, or DNB for short.
This period spawned the more electric 'Tales of the Danielle Nicholls Band' where she also added drums and some orchestral instruments.
Every artist needs to embrace change to grow, so Danielle had the opportunity to work with Jon Wright, who was Julia Fordham's Musical Director. Julia Fordham had always been a major inspiration and the six song EP 'Beautiful Thoughts' is an inspired piece of work.
As the world returned to normal after Covid, Dan and Al reunited to work on new material, some of it inspired by her great passion for Yoga. Dan is a renowned Yoga instructor and the new songs would in part be fuelled by this philosophy.
Recorded over a three-year period, 'Never a Saint' is an album of great beauty. Still with the trademark acoustic-driven material but now with a maturity that is inevitable when an artist comes of age.
All of Danielle's albums are available here.

This six song EP was produced by Jon Wright. Jon is Julia Fordham's musical director, who Dan often cites as one of her major influences. As varied as it is beautiful, this is a collection of sumptuous songs. Red Kite is a standout track and a live favourite.

Danielle's most electric album. Produced by Al Steele at Shabbey Road Studios, over a hot summer and a cold winter! An album of classic Danielle beauty, even if it does invoke the odd cry of 'Judas' occasionally!

An amazing collection of songs for a debut album. Some rate this as still their favourite DN album. A truly organic sounding piece of work. Some very off-the-wall writing such as 'If I Could' or the very cute 'Cowboys and Indians'. A little known fact is that Ava Volante (Born to Win/Korgis) is on backing vocals.
